Re: <nettime> At Doge, AI faith has fully fused with Christian Nationalism |
Perhaps there's a step before “AI is God” that we need to keep a close eye on: it's “anti-AI is the devil.”
wasn't that what Roko's Basilisk was about? And the other ste before God is eugenics, as described in Gebru's TESCREAL paper.
This equivalence should get a lot of
traction in those in power, be they populist, techno-accelerationist, or/and Christians.
We seem to have to deal with bundles of formerly conclifting positions. Trump: tech-accels + Christian + reactionary + pragmatic dealmakers Dem: progressive + NeoCon + Military complex + aggressive hegemonialists Euro: Green + progressive + repressive + non-diplomat + war obsessedThe only position all of them seem to share, is their suport for the nationalist/racist genocide in the Orient. Which teaches the rest of the world a dire lesson on 'Western Values'.
The overall background seems to be a desperate fight of Western oligarchies to maintain their global financial hegemony. That's the main goal for all of them: Trump and Biden and the Eurocrats. As Rosa Luxemburg pointed out, the capitalist financial Ponzi-scheme requires constant expansion, think of NATO-expansion and Anti-China policies.
However, from a European, and particularly German, perspective, Trump appears, for now, much less dangerous than the previous NeoCons/Democrats. DOGE goes way too far, but the dismantling of the Deep state / propaganda apparatus has some positive elements to it.
In Europe, the most dangerous development is the drive towards miliarization, that has been agreed throughout the centrist spectrum. We're back in the 30s. One can only hope, that Trump and his diplomats manage to put an end to the fantasies of Eurocrat warmongers.
Sadly, much of the academic scene goes all in for the most violent and aggressive politics - much more than the rest of the population. Very many people remain sceptic and are therefore being denigrated as 'populist'. In that respect, one can only hope that the 'populist' population succeeds in resisting the violent 'elites'.
