One paramount feature of amplifiers is that they consume prodigious amounts of energy as they selectively amplify and direct incoming signals for (re)distribution, i.e. the process is not passive, it directly and continuously contributes to CO2 production amongst other deleterious effects.

However, that number was decided by someone else, not you. And just when you got used/conditioned to it over years, someone (machine? human?) changed it to 280 characters.
